MarineEngine.com does not offer troubleshooting assistance or repair advice by email or by telephone. You are invited to join our public Boat Repair Forum to seek assistance from other members. You may also visit the Boat Motor Manuals section of our site to obtain a service manual. On Friday, July 15, 1949, a U.S. Federal trademark registration was filed for HIAWATHA. The USPTO has given the HIAWATHA trademark serial number of 71582039. Please confirm or add serial numbers, owner, location and contact info., I would also like unedited photos showing left, right, front and rear sides. Shackles, hitch, chains (gate and towing safety) tail lamps, reflectors, rear supports to determine when they switched to panel type rear supports.

I went to a gun show this morning and bought a Hiawatha Model 594 Series A single shot 12 gauge made by Savage. This is the first shotgun I bought so I don't really know anything about them. I got it for $100. I came back home and was suprised that I couldn't find any information on it. Does anyone know anything at all about this gun? I would appreciate any knowledge. Also, its got a 68 in a circle on the barrel. Is this the year it was made? Thanks.

After lengthy research (about 15 minutes) I determined that the Hiawatha Model 594 is a 'Trade Brand Name' shotgun made by Savage for the Gambles Stores and is the same as a Savage Model 944. It had to have been made some time after 1945 because it is not listed in any of my reference books which run up to 1940. I found the reference in the Blue Book. We'll never know for sure when it was made because I don't thin Savage put serial numbers on these guns and as far as I know there are no serial number-year made tables for these guns. Value? Of course the value will depend on the guns condition, the amount of original finish remaining on the metal and wood and the mechanical condition. These guns when new would have sold for between $30 and $50. They haven't increased in value that much selling for between $150 to $10 with the average being around $50

And you are very welcome. Appreciation accepted, cash preferred. I charge $3.00 for answers about old breech loading shotguns (four dollars for correct answers). Please put a $3.00 bill in the small slot on the front or side of your computer and hit the send key. Don't use a $5.00 bill as my computer is not programed to make change.
